FDA Warns That Acetaminophen Causes Deadly Skin Rashes

Last week, FDA warned that products containing acetaminophen such as Tylenol can cause searious skin rashes and blistering which can be fatal. In Stevens Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis, the condition can require treatment in a burn unit as a burn patent. Every internal organ, vision and other vital functions are at serious risk. Any patient on Tylenol or other Acetaminophen products is advised by the FDA to immediately stop taking the product at the first sign of any rash because early discontinuation may slow progression of the condition. FDA is requiring the warning to be added to OTC and prescription Acetaminophen.
